THE OFFICINA FAMILY OF RESTAURANTS

BUVETTE

Established in early 2011 by Chef Jody Williams, in the heart of New York’s West Village, Buvette Gastrothèque combines the elegance of an old-world café with the relaxed feel of a neighborhood eatery. Buvette is a beloved mainstay for eating and drinking well at any time of day – from fresh croissants and croque madames at morning light, to steak tartare with a glass of champagne in the afternoon, to an evening of coq au vin and late digestifs at the bar. Come gather with friends or find a quiet moment alone, and savor the pleasure of good food and drink made with simplicity and care.

Buvette celebrates European traditions of craft and design. Each detail evokes a sense of story, place, and delight – baskets brimming with seasonal ingredients, heirloom keepsakes above the marble bar, antique furniture collected over the years by the chef. Squeeze in at the bar, in the leafy garden tucked away, or at one of our sidewalk tables, on beautiful, tree-lined Grove Street.

VIA CAROTA

Via Carota is the West Village trattoria of cherished downtown chefs Jody Williams and Rita Sodi.  Inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence which Sodi once called home, Via Carota honors old-world Italian roots, life style, food and décor.

Their Village trattoria is thoughtfully renovated: wooden floors reclaimed from an old gymnasium, vintage chapel chairs from England and rustic wooden cabinets filled with heirloom china. Servers wear crisp white shirts and long linen aprons, there are communal tables and even a private room tucked away amongst the wine bottles.  Baskets of crusty bread and bowls of oranges are scattered throughout the sun drenched space. For bel tempo pleasure, join us at one of our outdoor tables on the tree-lined sidewalk.

Located at 51 Grove Street in the West Village; Via Carota is just one block up from the couple’s other beloved restaurants Buvette and I Sodi.  Via Carota is open all day long serving food and drink, early until late in a true trattoria fashion.

THE COMMERCE INN

The Commerce Inn is an early American tavern and cookery from esteemed New York chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. Nestled on the quaint corner of Commerce and Barrow Streets in the heart of the West Village, The Commerce Inn celebrates craftsmanship, community, heirloom recipes, and intuitive, seasonal cooking.

The interior evokes a sensibility of utility, material honesty, and a passion for the essential. The restoration and design honor the architecture of 1900’s West Village and the history of The Commerce Inn space, which has welcomed guests near-continuously for almost a century.

With a focus on fresh and straightforward fare inspired by heritage recipes – piquant pickled oysters in bread and butter brine, comforting rarebit, fortifying pot pies and uncomplicated vegetables – The Commerce Inn menu is prepared simply and served casually with a spirit of care and warmth. Our tavern pours deftly crafted cocktails, perfectly clear milk punches and smoky spirits, while our wine list features small American producers from the Finger Lakes to the Sierra Foothills.

Join us in the dining room or the tavern for libations, nourishment, and good cheer.

BAR PISELLINO

Just off Christopher Park, in the heart of the West Village, award-winning chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams share the arte del bere at Bar Pisellino.

Pisellino serves espresso and aperitivi alongside bomboloni alla crema, panini farciti and spuntini in celebration of the classic Italian bar. Dedicated to the Italian art of drinking, Bar Pisellino specializes in wine and cocktails from a collection of amari and vermouth.

Enjoy your apertivo al fresco on the sidewalk or al banco atop a curved marble counter at the perfect height for standing with our maestro bartenders.

Located across the street from the couple’s other beloved restaurants, Via Carota, I Sodi, and Buvette.

I SODI

I Sodi is the long-celebrated ristorante Toscano established in 2008 by Chef Rita Sodi. I Sodi draws inspiration from the small family farm where Sodi grew up, just north of Florence. Almost everything the family ate came from the farm – prosciutto, salami, vegetables, olive oil – and the preparation and enjoyment of meals was a sacred ritual. This history forms the guiding ethos of I Sodi, where the preservation of tradition, time-honored methods, and the integrity of ingredients matter above all.

Over the years, I Sodi has garnered widespread acclaim for the understated elegance of its cooking. As a self-taught chef, Sodi won the 2019 James Beard Award for Best Chef, NYC, alongside wife and partner Jody Williams. I Sodi is located at the corner of Bleecker and Grove Streets, a stone’s throw from the chefs’ other beloved restaurants: Via Carota, The Commerce Inn, Buvette, and Bar Pisellino. I Sodi welcomes guests for dinner every night and for Saturday and Sunday lunch – in the dining room, at the bar, and in the flagstone garden off Grove Street.
